Kapasity Oy is a partner in technical waste management solutions, with responsibility at the core of its operations. The company manufactures, sells, services, and takes care of its customers' old equipment.
A website redesign for a waste management company
The challenge
The main goals are to improve the company's search engine visibility, modernize the website design, and create clear user flows through effective navigation for diverse customer personas and industries. A challenge is the relatively large number of pages on the new website.
My role
As a Junior Designer & Developer at Janne Parri Oy, I was involved in Kapasity's website redesign from the initial meeting to the launch. As part of the team I was responsible for designing the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) of the new website. I also handled most of the website's Webflow development. I also participated in the weekly client meetings.
Solution
With keyword research and customer persona definition, we moved on to the website design phase. We created three visually distinct style options for the new website using Figma. Weekly client meetings helped advance the project toward its goals. During the design phase, and especially during Webflow development, particular attention was given to building a functional and clear navigation. The website is quite extensive, so effective navigation is at the core of everything.
The end result of the extensive project was search engine-friendly, user-friendly, and visually appealing website catering to a wide range of users.

Reflection
Through this website redesign project, I gained great experience in designing and implementing a large-scale website. At this stage, the importance of understanding the big picture is highlighted. The central theme must not be lost.
Regular weekly client meetings were a key part of the project's focused progress toward its goals. Collaboration between the client and the service provider cannot be underestimated.
Especially in visual design, I had some aha moments: Even very small details regarding shapes have a significant impact on creating the overall impression.
